A survey on big data processing: A case of jpeg 2000-image compression

Abstract: Big Data is actually the current big thing in computing as the quantity of computing data generated in the globe is growing exponentially from dissimilar areas for diverse causes. This survey presents firstly an overview of Big Data history, paradigms, and characterizations. Secondly, the technologies associated with Big Data processing. A case study of JPEG-2000 image compression is presented through simulations to underscore the importance of data compression in big-data processing. Finally the challenges faced in Big Data processing forms the basis of future research.
