Abstract: Understanding digital security and technology is essential for application in the contemporary world driven by corporations and innovation. In the absence of security, frameworks, critical documents, data, and other vital digital assets are vulnerable. Similarly, attackers remain vigilant when new technology in cybersecurity develop. They are using increasingly advanced hacking techniques and concentrating on the weaknesses of various corporations. Given that military, political, financial, medical, and business sectors amass, use, and retain vast quantities of data on computers and other devices, cybersecurity is imperative. Sensitive data, such as financial information, intellectual property, personal data, or other types of information for which unauthorized access or disclosure might pose significant risks, can constitute a substantial component of the data.
Cybercrime refers to illegal activities that use computers or electronic devices, using a computer system as a tool, target, or repository for evidence of illicit acts. India has stringent anti-cybercrime legislation; yet, the predominant issue confronting the country is insufficient public awareness. To thwart hackers, those combatting cybercrime must strive to foresee both qualitative and quantitative alterations in the foundational elements.
This article emphasizes the need of understanding the implications of cybercrime, considering contemporary events, and proposing measures to safeguard individuals or organizations from such threats. This research paper presents an overview of Indian cyber legislation, categorizes various types of cyberattacks and cybersecurity measures, and analyses the current situation of cybersecurity in India.
